Very excited to have a local Mexican place! The lack of any 'real' Mexican food in South Tampa has always confounded me. Moving here from South Texas, the Tampa version of Mexican food verges on criminal!
Not any more! Casa Mexicana has appeared and saved the day. From the chips and fresh salsa, to the Amazing Guac and queso made with real cheese, not just homogenized runny goop, this place has authentic Mexican food written all over it! We ordered all the basics: burritos, enchiladas, and fajitas. All meals were fresh, flavorful and delish!
The menu has a lot to choose from, offering traditional dishes as well as soups and many seafood dishes. Next time I'm going for the soup:)
There was a guy singing and playing the guitar, who was a bit loud, but after awhile even my teenagers said, 'wow that guy can sing!'

The food is hot temperature wise which is great! Some places it comes out room temp. The food is delicious. There is a guitarist who sings which is awesome!!!highly recommend

I had a early afternoon dinner around 4:00pm. Very nice, clean and friendly place. Very glad to see this new business open here in my neighborhood. I ordered a hard shell taco and a tostadas. My appetizer was chips and salsa but I like warm chips instead of cold. My meal was excellent! The two were a quite a meal for me. Took a flan home with me and it was also really tasty. THEY EVEN HAS A STRUMMING GUITARIST. Being the cheap guy I am, I thought the menu was overpriced for a lot of their entrees. Being from Texas I know that Mexican food is quite economical to prepare. That being said I would suggest everyone come and check this place out. They should do well here.

We noticed a New Mexican spot and tried it out! The enchiladas were great. The beef are made with shredded beef. Chicken fajitas had great flavor. Had a singer doing authentic Mexican music. We were pleasantly surprised and will be back. The chips and salsa were just ok, but the food was really good.

I happened to notice this little place while driving by. The location has been multiple things, none of which have ever been good, and therefore didn't last. I reluctantly decided to try it as I love Mexican food and know that you can't judge a book by its cover in this cuisine. I can usually pre-judge a Mexican restaurant by its salsa, and this one didn't disappoint. It was fresh with a bit of heat and we had no issue with the chips...standard chips you get in most restaurants. We ordered the guacamole appetizer, another thing I regularly judge a restaurant on. It too was fresh and delicious. We ordered chicken tacos with corn tortillas, as well as a chicken burrito platter (I know it's super American...but atleast it wasn't chicken wings lol) Both were outstanding. Fresh, perfectly cooked with great portion size. The waitress brought me their homemade hot sauce which was absolutely amazing and as hot as it was, I couldn't stop putting it on everything! After eating, I wish I had tried some of the more authentic food they offer, but I was playing it safe for the first time. The food is super authentic and the staff was helpful and attentive. They are brand new and I really hope the word gets out and their business takes off. They truly seem to care about the food they are putting out as compared to focusing on trendy decor with crappy food (O Cocina) and they really deserve success. If you are looking for great food...give it a try!
